The dialogue between an artist, Victor Fleury Ponsin, laureate of the Van Cleef & Arpels Design Parade Prize, and an interior architect, Jean-Michel Bourillot, lies at the heart of Ombre. One brings an instinct for material, form and creative exploration ; the other a deep understanding of space and architectural intent. Together, they bridge imagination and execution.
A Tradition of Collaboration
Throughout the history of art, the most remarkable spaces have emerged from a dialogue between architectural vision, artistic exploration and exceptional craftsmanship.
When Fernand Léger worked alongside Robert Mallet-Stevens, when Jean-Michel Frank collaborated with Alberto and Diego Giacometti, or when Jean Dunand transformed lacquer, metal and artisanal mastery into architectural expression, art was never conceived as decoration. It became an integral part of architecture, revealing the identity of a place through material.
Ombre continues this tradition in a townhouse in the Parisian Passage Choiseul. We believe that material is a creative language, one we need to manipulate and experiment with together : interior designers, creators and artisans gathered around the same table.
By exploring its expressive potential and bringing together exceptional artisans, Ombre create bespoke architectural features and site-specific artworks that reveal the identity of a space and bring the interior designer’s vision to life.
